About the Senior Program
Oakhurst CC participates in the Bay Area Seniors Association (BASA) golf program which includes most of the country clubs in the greater East Bay. BASA member clubs schedule home and away events throughout the spring/summer. The matches are more a social event than competition. A typical day includes breakfast, golf, and lunch with a few awards for winning teams and closest to hole contests. The golf tournament consists of mixed foursomes (members from each participating club) playing a Stableford format.
A member can participate in some/all of the events, so don’t feel as though you must play each event. We do, however, expect any participant to play in at least 1 home event for every 2 away events (this aligns with the home/away schedule). As the season progresses, you may be restricted from playing away events if you have not participated in home outings. You do NOT have to be a Men’s Club member to participate, but you MUST be an active member of Oakhurst, be 50+ years old, and have an established handicap.
Senior Membership
To sign up for the 2024 Senior program, please email Don Ames at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Even if you were an active Senior last year, we need to confirm your Name, GHIN, Email address and Cell phone number before you can participate in this year’s program.
Each Senior participant will be charged a one-time fee of $50. This amount will likely show on your Oakhurst billing statement for the month of March, which will arrive on or about April 1. These funds will be used for event prizes such as scrip/wine/balls and subsidizing the cost of food and beverage for home events.
Event Signups
Well in advance of scheduled events, all Senior members will receive an email announcing the date and time that event registration will be available on Foretees. Typically, we set up signups for 3-5 events that are scheduled for the coming month. To register for events:
If you use the Foretees app on your smart phone or tablet, open the app, click on Foretees at the bottom of the screen. Then select the Golf image/link, followed by Tournament Registration. Find the event you want to register for and click on it.
If you use a computer to access Foretees, access the Oakhurstcc.com website, sign in as a member, click on member tee times, then select your name. This will bring you to the page with a calendar to sign up for tee times. At the top of the page there is a menu spanning across the top. Select “Events”, which will show a list of all events scheduled, including the Senior golf outings that have been released for signup.
Note that most away events have strict participation limits. In order to provide all senior members the opportunity to play in popular away events, we will apply specific guidelines when registration open on Foretees. These will be outlined in the email announcing the coming events and will include:
- Pending the popularity of the events for the coming month, we may ask seniors to sign up for just 1 event in the first 24 hours that registration is open in order to allow all the ability to prioritize the event they wish to participate. After 24 hours, you can then enroll in the other events available.
- After the first 24 hours, if any events have exceeded their participation limit, we will use the lottery process we employed starting in 2023 to select seniors to play in that event. We will announce this list via email shortly after the lottery has been completed.
If you miss out on the allotted spots, Foretees will allow you to sign up for a waitlist. We advise all Members to elect this option, because many times throughout the year, clubs allow us additional spots beyond the initial allotment and members on the waitlist will be included.
Senior Golfer of the Year
Throughout the season, participants are awarded points for participation in home events, putting contest winners, team results and low net and low gross individual results. These points accumulate throughout the season and the leading sixteen (16) point earners at the end of the year qualify for an 18-hole SGOTY championship outing. The season-long point leader and the year end tournament winner will have their names engraved on the plaque mounted on the wall in the bar area.
